Summer Reading

Summer Reading 2023

For students entering First Grade and Second Grade:

We encourage students to be exposed to as many books as they would like this summer! Listening to books (via audio books or families reading to them) and reading books on their own are both important. For this particular assignment, we would like it to be based on a book that students have read on their own.

Choose a book of your choice that you can read. Using the ideas below, choose ONE activity to complete and represent the book you have read. If you have another idea not listed, please email the reading specialist.

  1. Write about the book that you read. It could be a poem, letter, book re-view, or just filling out the graphic organizer. In-clude the following im-portant information: title, character(s), beginning, middle, and end.
  2. Make a video to tell about the book that you read. It must in-clude: title, characters, begin-ning, middle, and end.
  3. Draw a picture(s)/make a poster about the book that you read. It must include: title, characters, beginning, middle, and end. Please label your pictures as needed so we will understand the information.
  • If you choose to read a non-fiction book. Please include the title, topic, and 3 facts that you learned (instead of character, beginning, middle, and end). You can still choose one of the 3 options above to present your information.
  • Please send in your child’s project the first week of school. If their project is digital, please email to: Dawn Fenuccio (Bryn Mawr Students)- dfenuccio@auburn.k12.ma.us or Julie Benoit (Pakachoag Students)- jbenoit@auburn.k12.ma.us
