Summer Reading
For students entering First Grade and Second Grade:
We encourage students to be exposed to as many books as they would like this summer! Listening to books (via audio books or families reading to them) and reading books on their own are both important. For this particular assignment, we would like it to be based on a book that students have read on their own.
Choose a book of your choice that you can read. Using the ideas below, choose ONE activity to complete and represent the book you have read. If you have another idea not listed, please email the reading specialist.
- Write about the book that you read. It could be a poem, letter, review, or filling out a graphic organizer. Include the following information: title, character(s), beginning, middle, and end.
- Make a video to tell about the book that you read. It must include: title, character(s), beginning, middle, and end.
- Draw a picture(s)/make a poster about the book that you read. It must include: title, character(s), beginning, middle, and end. Please label your pictures as needed so we will understand the information.
- You may also choose to read a non-fiction book. Please include the title, topic, and 3 facts that you learned (instead of character, beginning, middle, and end). You can still choose one of the 3 options above to present your information
- Please send in work the first week of school. If the project is digital, please email to the reading specialists:
